What is the OpenAIRE Publisher Dashboard?

The OpenAIRE Publisher Dashboard is a data-driven component of the OpenAIRE MONITOR service, tailored to support Diamond Open Access publishers. Built within the OpenAIRE MONITOR and powered by the OpenAIRE Graph, it provides publishers, through a set of curated, community-driven indicators, with a consolidated, transparent view of their publishing activities and impact. In addition to the main publisher dashboard, the service supports individual dashboards for each journal, enabling more granular tracking and self-monitoring of scholarly production. The Publisher Dashboard offers a suite of metrics and indicators designed to provide Diamond OA publishers with actionable insights into their publishing activity and impact.

Key features include:

– Visual summaries of scholarly publishing activity, including the number of journals published, the journals registered in DOAJ, the volume of publications, and the scholarly production attributed to Diamond OA journals.

– Insights into whether publications are also deposited in repositories, how they are shared across countries, and how they are classified under specific Fields of Science (FoS) and assigned Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

– Funding indicators have also been utilised that highlight grant-supported publications, such as those resulting from EC-funded projects.

– Comparative metrics across journals within the publisher to assess performance and visibility.- The dashboard uncovers patterns of co-authorship, allowing publishers to see how their journals foster collaboration across institutions, disciplines, and countries. It will also highlight participation in funded projects, adding another dimension to understanding collaborative networks.

-By showcasing publications linked to datasets and software, the dashboard demonstrates how published articles are connected to the broader research ecosystem.

– Insights into how the publishers’ content is received and used, through indicators such as citations, downloads. These measures provide tangible evidence of reach and influence, helping to showcase the value of their publishing activity.

What does the OpenAIRE Publisher Dashboard achieve?

Diamond Open Access Publishers are an important part of advancing Open Science, but they often lack the resources, visibility, and monitoring tools of commercial publishers. This leads to gaps in evidence and reporting limiting publishers’ will to demonstrate their impact to funders and institutions and to the broader Open Science landscape. The OpenAIRE Publisher Dashboard responds to this need by offering tailored indicators that go beyond simple publication counts. Diamond Open Access Publishers can build credibility, strengthen trust with stakeholders, and rely on data-driven foundations for sustainability, funding, and policy integration. OpenAIRE guarantees sustainability for the Publisher Dashboard as it is embedded within the OpenAIRE MONITOR service and is hosted on OpenAIRE’s trusted infrastructures ensuring reliability and long-term support.

The dashboard enables Diamond Open Access Publishers to:

-Strengthen visibility of their journals and scholarly outputs within the global Open Science ecosystem.
-Benchmark their publishing activity against peers and monitor growth over time.
-Improve metadata quality through harmonisation, enrichment, and alignment with the compatibility with the OpenAIRE Guidelines and/or JATS XML.
-Connect publications with grants, projects, datasets, and other research products, providing evidence of broader impact.
-Showcase Open Science alignment by highlighting licensing practices, FAIR principles, and SDG contributions.
