What is the Publisher’s Living Handbook for Diamond Open Access?

The Publisher’s Living Handbook for Diamond Open Access (Living Handbook) is a practical, easy-to-use guide that brings together ready-to-use references to resources to help improve journal platforms and software and boost the visibility, discoverability, and recognition of Diamond Open Access publishing. In its core version, the Living Handbook showcases the CRAFT-OA project’s results. It is designed for all stakeholders in the publishing process, particularly journal editors, technical staff, and publishers who seek reliable information and guidance on the technical aspects of Diamond Open Access publishing. The Living Handbook was created with contributions from the community. It is designed to grow and evolve, and from 2026 onward, its content will be regularly updated and expanded to meet the community’s needs.

What does the Publisher’s Living Handbook for Diamond Open Access achieve?

The objective of the Living Handbook is to create a comprehensive and dynamic reference in the field of Diamond Open Access. It aims at disseminating results, findings and tools developed during the CRAFT-OA project. As a component of the EDCH (https://diamas.org), the Living Handbook provides a curated platform for references to technical resources that support different target groups in Diamond Open Access publishing.

The Living Handbook is a true community service: intended to grow with contributions from the community, curated by the community, providing support for the community.
